No, Alex, Sarah Palin was saying that she was MORE qualified than Barack Obama because he was a community organizer and she was the mayor of a town of 10,000. (according to 2007 Census reports). If we are going for context, then we need to remember HER context, too.

I hardly think that her job as a mayor of Wasilla means she had MORE responsibilities than his work in the south side of Chicago. I imagine, however, that we are going to have to agree to disagree on that one.

I’m guessing no one here wants a copy of a Mormons for Obama bumper sticker?

Resumes ask for *relevant* work experience. When I apply for a job as a teacher, I don’t include my work as a paper carrier or a dishwasher. Yes, I share that I had that work – but not under the category of relevant experience!

Sen. Obama should be proud that he worked as a community organiser. But he shouldn’t be saying he is qualified to be an executive because of it!

A few weeks ago, Sarah Palin said (And I quote): “I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a “community organizer,” except that you have actual responsibilities.” She may disagree with Barack Obama all she wants, but here she is basically making fun of him for serving his community. This bumber sticker points out that Obama was serving people, just like Christ has told us to do. In my opinion, this bumber sticker is comparing Obama in a postitive way, just like we would in Sunday School when we urge people to act Christ-like.

The second line is obviously an attack on Palin–and it isn’t a very nice attack, I agree. I doubt Palin is going to commit the same kinds of crimes that Pilate did. But, again, I think the point is that the history books may place organized government jobs over small-town volunteer work, but that we can look to the Bible as an example of what one humble man can do. Jesus Christ WASN’T sent as a rich man, a man of means, a military leader or a king. While Jesus Christ was the Son of God, his social status did not reflect that. And isn’t that amazing? Wasn’t that the point?

So here we have this bumper sticker that reminds voters that we can criticize Obama for “only” beig a community organizer, but the greatest man who ever walked on this earth was also “just” a community organizer.

I would have preferred a bumber sticker with just the first part (the second line IS rude). But I disagree that to compare a man to the Savior is blasphame. As I recall, we have had many a lesson that compared regular men (Joseph Smith, for example) to the Savior.

I AM, however, extremely mad that someone decided to draw a comparison between Mr. Obama (a man) and Jesus Christ (Savior, Lord, and Redeemer).

I fully expect there to be mudslinging. Political campaigns of every sort wouldn’t be the same without it. This, to me, is not mudslinging at all. This is blaspheme. This is shameful. While I won’t pass judgement on those that are celebrating this phrase/slogan, I feel bad for them for they will probably have a sad, sad “last day”.
