Hypothetically Speaking

If you walk into my cube to “chat”, and I don’t make eye contact with you … AT ALL … how long will you keep talking before you leave?

Personally, I would leave after the first 10 seconds of awkwardness. Some people, however, think that it’s cool to stick around for much, much longer. For the record, a lack of eye contact and/or the absence of my participation in the conversation should be an indication that I just plain don’t care.

Although I’ve never had the joy of working in a cube, I’m pretty certain that I would give up as soon as you ignored my “Hey Jacob…” query. So, um… my answer is 2.7 seconds.

Just trust me on this one, Jacob. This is the answer to your query. And you might laugh so hard, you’ll cry. Or openly weep. I did.
