New Direction, More Activity?

March 18th, 2010 · 2 Comments

I have sat at this composition screen many times over the last few months trying to come up with new, fun, creative, and/or interesting things to post. I haven’t traveled anywhere for a while, I haven’t had any real adventures, and I haven’t really had much to say. So that’s why you’ve not seen anything new for a while.

I don’t like that. I wish that I had more interesting things going on to keep you all entertained and informed. I want to make this better.

I recently purchased two cameras – one old and one new. I’ve wanted to do more with photography for a LOOOOONNNNG time, and so now I have the opportunity to take pictures for the sake of taking pictures and hopefully learn more about photography along the way. And, as I spend time with this hobby, I plan to share the pictures that I take with those that would like to see them.

So here’s what I’ve done and what I intend:

  • I’ve set up a new page here on the blog that will be a static collection of some of my favorite pictures. It will grow over time, but I don’t plan to REMOVE anything from it as time goes on.
  • I created a public album on Picasa, which allows anyone and everyone to view pictures that I upload from my computer. This will probably be a frequently-changing collection of pictures.
  • I created a profile on Flickr (mainly so that I can participate in a group that’s here in Peoria), and will be able to post pictures from Flickr to this blog.

I’m hoping that this will generate new and interesting things for you to read here (and look at, too), and hopefully it will give me more to write about as well. For example, I’m hoping to make a trip to Chicago soon for the specific purpose of taking photos. Since I’ll be out-and-about, I hope to have stories to share.

Time will be the ultimate judge, but let’s see how well this new direction creates more activity.

Glad you are pursuing your pics hobby. I hear Dallas is a great place to take some photos…

I’m just now seeing this, but it sounds like fun! Good luck on this creative adventure.
