The New Lady

There’s a girl in my life, and I’d like you to meet her.

mygirl

She doesn’t have a name just yet, but I’m sure I’ll come up with one as soon as I can spend some time with her.

She’s a 1990 Honda Pacific Coast 800, a semi-rare bike that I picked up for a real steal. I can’t ride her just yet, but will soon be licensed to do so. In the meantime, I’ll just keep gazing at her lovingly as she rests in my garage.

UPDATES:

-4/22/2009 – The bike has a name: Red, which is short for “The Lady in Red”. Kinda cheesy? Yes. Do I really care if you think it’s cheesy? Nope. I took Red out for a ride around my neighborhood, and it was TONS of fun. I din’t have anyone to ride with, though, so I put her away and met friends for dinner.

-4/24/2009 – Red came to work with me today. It’s a BEAUTIFUL, sunny day. I think  I might become addicted to riding.

-4/26/2009 – Took Red to the ‘Rents’ house for a birthday dinner. It was waaay to windy for the ride, but still lots of fun!

-4/29/2009 – It’s a cloudy day, but I rode into work anyway. People at the office are mocking me, but I’ll have the last laugh when the rain never falls. Just wait.

-5/18/2009 – Took Red to visit Mom and Dad and the fam yesterday, and it was a beautiful ride. I didn’t want to park Red when I got home, but I had other things to get done. I rode Red in to work this morning. You’d be suprised how cold 60* feels when you’re going 50mph. Brr.

-5/20/2009 – Rode Red to work again this morning, which makes 3 days in a row. I used a different route to get here, which allowed me to ride at 70mph. Wow – that’s fast! But even at moderate speeds, it is SO much fun to go for a ride!

Wow, not too shabby. You’ll enjoy the gas mileage, but I wonder if you’ll enjoy the bugs in your teeth…

I laughed when I read the title of this post… okay so now I can’t give you so much crap about the bike. Congrats to you and your biker gang!

Hello. I found this blog via Peoria Pundit link.

Good lines and great color! Maybe when its just you and her, you can speak Italian and call her your little Testa Rossa!

For biking in the Peoria area , I recommend Roanoke/Randolph Area near Methodist Hospital over to High St Moss Ave. Also stop by Cyd’s in Vonochan’s Junction on Prospect Ave for something light for picnic on Grandview Dr. Fon-Du-Lac Dr, Kickapoo Creek Rd are fun, too. I like to catch Farmdale Rd area where East Peoria Sonic Restaurant is and go any of 3 ways: to Pleasant Hill Antique Mall or Morton or Sunnyland comes out where Knickerbockers is located. Also try School Rd south from Washington and the shoreline road south from Chilliclothe to Rome. I think Springdale Cemetery is OK for just some low speed putting around and the history. I do that sometimes after breakfast at Gebby’s.

One other tip, If you go to the TT cycle races and park in a grassy field, you’ll want to bring along a vertically crushed soda can to place under the kickstand so she doesn’t sink into the soft ground and topple over. Otherwise you’ll look like Jack Black in “Shallow Hal” as you try to help her back up.
